In an earlier post, we'd established that we all have that one make-up item that's sat in our make-up purses for longer than we can remember.
But
while we can hang on to some of these items for a long period of time,
it is highly unadvisable for others. One of such items is the masacara.
Of all the make-up items, the mascara is the one with the shortest
lifespan. That said, just how long can we hold on to our mascara before
it becomes highly recommended to toss them?
Find out.
- When to toss it: Mascaras have an average shelf life of three months which means if you've had that mascara for longer than 3 months and its beginning to feel dry and clumpy, it's time to toss it. Also, if you get an eye infection, then its highly advisable to change your mascara once you get better in order not to risk re-infection.
- NEVER add water to extend its life. You're only going to make it more clumpy, plus you risk getting an eye infection.
- Do NOT over-spend on mascaras since they have a short life span. Instead brands like Maybelline offer great volumnising mascaras at an affordable price.
- Do NOT pump air mascara wands in and out as this exposes them to air and leading it to dry out faster
